Hallo allemaal!!
Jaaaa, we leven gelukkig nog hoor!
Door die Corona zitten we hier voorlopig nog vast!
Inplaats van door het land te toeren zijn we van narigheid maar aan groot onderhoud begonnen aan de boot.
Dat houd ons ook even van de straat!!
Er moest toch het een en ander gebeuren dan alleen knippen en scheren!
Het onderwater schip had groot onderhoud nodig, als we dat niet doen, kon bij eventuele verkoop ons veel schaden op brengen.
Het dek moest ook ondehanden genomen worden, maar dat wisten we bij de aankoop al.
Er is nu ook een grotere buiskap op gekomen, eentje die je helemaal dicht kan doen.
Dus als de wind en regen van achter komt zit je lekker droog, de schootlieren staan lekker binnen de buikap!
Een helft van de kuip is al behandeld en dat ziet er veel belovend uit voor de rest van de kuip en het dek.
Als alles naar wens verloopt, hopen we in mei onze terug tocht naar Nederland te beginnen.
Door de corona kunnen we geen één eiland aan doen, als we dat zouden doen moet je tenminsten 14 dagen in quarantaine, dus totaal niet van het schip af!!!
En dat is niet leuk, dan daarbij komt nog de extra kosten voor inklaren door de corona. En je kan nergens heen!!
Dus in één keer van Cartagena naar de Azore, dat is vlug gezegd, maar het is toch ongeveer 4 weken zeilen!
Dat betekend ook dat je voor minstens 5 weken proviant aan boord moet hebben!!
Als dat straks aan boord is, dan ligt het schip denk ik op zijn eik!!
We zien dan 1 week alleen water, dan varen we tussen 2 eilanden door en dan weer 3 weken alleen water, misschien af en toe een Dolfijn, walvis, bruinvissen of vliegende vissen, die komen soms zelfs op het dek terecht.

Wim had heftig diaree en overgegeven een hele lang nacht, Er is een doctor naar het schip gekomen met medicatie etc, Wim lag op bed met een infuus omdat hij uitgedrogen was. Hij was net op tijd want anders was Wim dood gegaan van uitdroging, Daarna bloed onderzoeken en foto's in de ziekenhuis want Wim was Zooooo moe. Het is nu 3 weken aan het herstellen. Hij heeft vlesjes pep drank gekregen van de dokter om wat meer vut te geven.
Ik heb vreselijke exzeem aan mijn handen....al 8 maanden....dus naar een dermatoloog in Cartagena. 5 sort medicijnen!! En na een week ging het veel beter. Exzeem jeukt, pijnelijke zwelling.
Het is fijn om even weg van de ankerplaats met al de herrie van motor boten met gillende gasten en harde muziek. Al de boten met 400 pk. maakt het water zeer onrustig, net alsof je op zee zit.
Hier in Manzanilla Ship Yard is het s'avonds rustig. Maar over dag veel stof van al de werkzaamheden. In de Ship Yard eten we iedere dag voor 2,50 Euro. Hier in Colombia is boodschappen, taxi's en uit eten zeer goed koop.
Ook de werzaamheden zijn hier hel goed betaalbaar!!

Yes, we are still alive!
We are still stuck here because of that Corona!
Instead of touring the country, we started with major maintenance work on the boat.
That also keeps us off the street !!
There was a lot to be done besides just cutting and shaving!
The underwater ship needed major maintenance, if we don't do that, it could cause us a lot of damage if we sell it.
The deck also had to be taken care of, but we already knew that at the time of purchase.
There is now also a larger sprayhood, one that you can close completely.
So when the wind and rain comes from behind you are nice and dry, the electric winches for the genoa are nicely inside the binimi.
Half of the cockpit wood has already been treated and that looks very promising for the rest of the cockpit and deck.
If everything goes according to plan, we hope to start our return trip to the Netherlands in May.
Because of the corona we cannot visit any islands, if we would you would have to be in quarantine for at least 14 days, so not off the ship at all !!!
And that is no fun, in addition to the extra costs for clearing through authorities because of the corona. And you have nowhere to go !!
So in one go from Cartagena to the Azore, that is quickly said, but it is still about 4 weeks sailing!
That also means that you must have provisions on board for at least 5 weeks !!
When that is on board later, I think the ship will be on his mark!!
We will only see water for 1 week, then we sail between 2 islands and then again for 3 weeks only water, maybe now and then a dolphin, whale, porpoises or flying fish, which sometimes even ends up on the deck.

Wim had severe diarrhea and vomited all night long. A doctor came to the ship with medication etc, Wim was in bed with an IV because he was dehydrated. He was just in time because otherwise Wim would have died of dehydration. Then blood tests and pictures in the hospital because Wim was Soooo tired. He has now been recovering for 3 weeks. The doctor gave him bottles of pep drink to give him some more early energy.
I have terrible eczema on my hands ... for 8 months ... so to a dermatologist in Cartagena. 5 kinds of medicines !! And after a week it went much better. Exzema is itchy, painful and swelling.
It is nice to get away from the anchorage with all the noise of motor boats with screaming guests and loud music. All the boats with 400 hp. makes the water very restless, just as if you were at sea.
Here in Manzanilla Ship Yard it is quiet at night. But during the day a lot of dust from all the work. In the Ship Yard we eat every day for 2.50 Euro. Here in Colombia groceries, taxis and eating out are very affordable.
The work here is also very affordable !!
